Yesteday i made the decision to get up crack of dawn and visit montrose to capture the lifer -- Bittern on Film, well i did get it but images are not all that good.

The bird was some 130 mtrs off and very elusive. Weather was low sun and cloud, light levels not the best.

Many species are avaliable from the Royal Bank of Scotland hide at montrose basin, but its not really a photographers paradise as the birds are about 150 metres out, pintail , shelduck, merganser, many redshanks and sandpipers and the likes also a kingfisher frequenting in front of the hide.

Anyway here is the best i got

2015's door closed and it was a good year for me from a personal perspective , seen many species, photographed plenty some examples are below

Taken in Dunfries and Galloway at a paid location , one which i can highly recommend as i have now been back several times - Wildlife Photography Hides Scotland -- Alan McFadgyen , even BBC Wildlife Program Autumn Watch has visited and appear on the program.. well worth a visit if your funds permit

The above 3 hides are specific to the indivual species, ocasionally you may get the odd other species snapped at these locations, the jewel in the crown as far as i am concerned from Alan's hide's is

There is many more i can upload, siskin, blue tit, buzzard, chaffinch and great tit to name but a few.

Alan also offers seasonal hides and photo opportunities, Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Tawny Owl to name a few.

Anyway that was my highlights of 2015, now on forward to 2016... Keep and eye on this blog for further updates.
